Job summary

Boom Supersonic is building a state-of-the-art materials lab and seeks the first dedicated lab and test engineer to shape it from the ground up. You’ll select equipment, hire technicians, define procedures, run campaigns, and work with design engineers on the supersonic jet engine program.

You will directly impact material testing, data integrity, and traceability, turning test output into design-usable material data while collaborating with world-class scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on testing experience with mechanical tests (tensile, fatigue, creep).
• Ability to write and validate lab procedures against standards.
• Data skills: automation, scripting, and data reduction.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute mechanical test campaigns on aerospace alloys.
• Collaborate with lab technicians and engineers to prep, test, and document results.
• Write and validate lab test procedures and improve them.
• Build data backbone: tracking, logs, pipelines, and data reduction scripts.
• Support metallographic evaluation and SEM inspection of engine hardware.
• Support test programs with traceability and statistical data handling.
• Assist commissioning of new lab equipment and capabilities.
