Boom Technology, Inc. is seeking an Early Career Materials & Manufacturing Process Engineer to tackle high-heat materials, coatings, and manufacturing challenges for two engines.

You’ll own scope from day one, including qualification, heat treatment, joining, or coatings with accountability for outcomes. You will work across office, lab, and shop floor to shape metal alloys and processes for high-durability hardware used in gas turbines and high‑Mach flight programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Materials Science & Engineering or related field.
• At least one internship or co-op working with real-world engineering materials, testing, or process characterization.
• Hands-on lab or shop experience required, including time operating mechanical test frames or related equipment.
• Fundamental understanding of materials behavior, including microstructural strengthening, fatigue, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature oxidation.
• Track record of finishing hard projects in school or outside.

Responsibilities

• Own a defined piece of the Materials Process domain with real accountability for outcomes.
• Interact across design, propulsion, manufacturing and span office to shop floor.
• Characterize and validate extreme-environment materials for gas turbines and high-Mach flight programs.
• Perform rapid failure analysis using internal labs (e.g., SEM) to identify root causes and iterate solutions.
• Plan and execute test campaigns, including mechanical testing of superalloys, DOEs for metallic additive, and development testing of investment casting technologies.
• Help scope, procure, install, and commission new equipment and train others on it.
