Job summary

WSB is offering an Intern, Materials (Summer 2027) position in Minnesota. You will assist with field and laboratory testing of aggregates, soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials, while collecting samples and documenting results to meet project requirements.

You will work with engineers and technicians, support field observations on active sites, operate testing equipment, and help prepare daily reports. A strong interest in construction materials and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment or pursuit of a two-year technical degree or four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Interest in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, or construction services.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field and laboratory testing of aggregate, soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
• Collect, prepare, and document material samples and test results in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Support construction observation and inspection activities on active project sites.
• Operate, maintain, and assist with the usage, setup and calibration of testing equipment.
• Complete daily reports, field documentation, and other project records.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, contractors, and project teams to support project delivery.
• Follow company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
