As a Materials Intern, you will assist with quarry operations, observe maintenance activities, participate in quality control, and gain exposure to sales and client interactions. Majors applicable include Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, and other engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment at an accredited college or university with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Proficient written and verbal English communications skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Legal right to work in the U.S.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day quarry operations under supervision.
• Support plant operations and maintenance activities.
• Participate in quality control processes and documentation.
• Assist maintenance teams with basic mechanical tasks.
• Gain exposure to sales and customer service functions.

JobSummary:

Peckham’spaidInternshipProgramisdesignedtoaddpractical,relevantexperiencetoyourfieldofstudywhilewelcomingyouintoourfamilybychoiceculture.AsaMaterialsIntern,youwill:

• Assistwithday-to-dayquarryoperations,includingexposuretodrilling,blastingpreparation,mobileequipmentoperations,andplantstartup/shutdownproceduresundersupervision.
• Supportplantoperationsandmaintenanceactivitiesbyobservingandassistingwithpreventativemaintenance,equipmentinspections,conveyorandscreenoperations,andgeneralplantcleanup.
• Participateinqualitycontrolprocesses,includingproductsampling,requiredquarrytesting,anddocumentationofresultstosupportconsistentproductquality.
• Assistmaintenanceteamswithbasicmechanicaltasks,includingweldingandcuttingprocedures,equipmentrepairs,andschedulingmaintenanceactivitiestoimproveplantavailability.
• Gainexposuretosalesandcustomerservicefunctionsbylearningproductapplications,supportingthesalesprocess,andinteractingwithplantcustomersasappropriate.
• Supportadministrativeandofficefunctions,includingscalesystemoperation,paperworkflow,reporting,purchaseorders,workorders,andrequisitions.
• Assistdistrictanddivisionalofficeteamswithbusinessoperationssuchascapitalplanning,accountingcodes,procurement,environmentalcompliance,andtechnicalservices.
• Participateinleadershipdevelopmentactivities,includingprojectmanagement,teamcollaboration,meetingparticipation,andpresentationstoplantordivisionalleadership.
• Followallsafety,environmental,andcompanypolicieswhileworkinginquarry,plant,andofficeenvironments.
