Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated in Greenville, AL is seeking a material handler to provide and arrange component parts for assembly and press personnel, ensuring continuous workflow, safe handling, and adherence to ISO and housekeeping standards.

You will load, move, and store materials, read shop orders, prepare packaging, operate a forklift if required, and participate in keeping a clean environment; training may be provided to new hires.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret shop orders and inventory tracking documents.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to ISO and housekeeping standards.
  • Proven math skills for measurements, percentages and ratios.
  • Good communication to coordinate with team and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and move material within the plant yard or work site.
  • Read shop orders or tickets to move parts and boxes between locations.
  • Construct or set up packaging containers for parts handling.
  • Operate forklift as required to move materials safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety regulations.
  • Assist with training new employees in area duties.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisors.

Job Overview

Provide and arrange component parts for assembly and press personnel at the work stations to avoid any interruptions in their daily assignments, move and transfer material in orderly manner to insure proper flow of service and operations, while complying with current ISO requirements, all safety requirements, and good housekeeping standards.

Day In The Life
  • Load, unload, and move material within or near the plant yard or work site.
  • Read shop order, inventory tracking tickets, and/or receive oral instructions from a supervisor to move material, parts, boxes, drums, etc. between locations in the plant.
  • Construct or set up packaging containers.
  • Load and unload materials from tables, machines, etc.
  • Follow all pertinent safety regulations for self and others.
  • May be required to dispose of scrap in the containers provided and/or move scrap to its proper destination.
  • May be required to operate a forklift.
  • Be an active participant in maintaining a clean work environment.
  • May be required to train any new employee assigned to the area.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisors.

  • Language Skills – Good communication skills are key. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Experience working with consolidations.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Need to exercise good judgment and decision‑making skills. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
