Job summary

RTX is seeking a Materials Engineer to support a major Packaging and Handling assessment for Northeast facilities. The role emphasizes evaluating materials, reviewing documentation, and developing packaging requirements for incoming parts.

It will transition to steady-state duties including testing, COA review, and compliance verification. Ideal candidates have a STEM degree, strong Excel data analysis skills, and hands-on lab experience, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM is required.
  • Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and statistics.
  • Hands-on wet-lab techniques and safe chemical handling.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate drawings and specs of incoming parts to define packaging and handling requirements.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to understand material use, environment, and manufacturing needs.
  • Review data sheets and COAs; provide recommendations based on engineering judgment.
  • Document findings and help embed packaging/handling requirements into standards and coding.
  • Develop and test procedures, fixtures, and test setups for new processes.
  • Conduct hands-on material testing and ensure compliance with specifications when transitioning to steady-state.
