Job summary

Primary Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced metallurgist or materials engineer to join the Global Security materials capability at Honeywell FM&T. This individual will perform a variety of materials analyses, conduct high level research, develop and advance standard procedures, and support production operations. In addition, this individual will assist in materials evaluation, characterization, and operational procedures development to support both production and R&D. This individual should be able to leverage their experience and engineering judgment to apply multiple analytical techniques to challenging metallurgical problems and provide critical solutions in support of operations.


You Must Have



  • US citizenship, needed in order to obtain and maintain required US Dept. of Energy “Q”‑level security clearance

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Physical Science from an ABET accredited institution

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities

  • Some domestic travel (< 10%)


We Value



  • An understanding of advanced manufacturing techniques, including: powder metallurgy, additive manufacturing, and polymer or metal processing.

  • Experience with metal test methods and mechanical responses, processing, and characterization techniques. These include familiarity with chemical analysis, rheology, particle analysis, micro‑structure analysis, surface analysis, tribology, mechanical testing, and aging/oxidation.

  • Experience in a production support role

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems

  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision on all job responsibilities

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and responsibilities concurrently

  • Ability to generate accurate and precise analytical data that may be used in formal reports or presentations or for quality acceptance of components utilized in national defense

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • All employees must work in a safe manner in accordance with the Laboratory Health and Safety Program
