Job summary

Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) at KCNSC in Overland Park, KS, seeks a Chemical Engineer II to perform routine to moderately complex engineering functions on assigned projects using standard engineering methods.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree or physics degree.
• 2+ years of relevant engineering or technical experience.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management.
• United States Citizenship.
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DOE security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and project/process management of new and current products, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under guidance.
• Assist in development of test procedures and performance of routine engineering evaluation tests and quality audits.
• Prepare evaluation reports, analyze discrepancies, and make recommendations to improve productivity and quality.
• Define and acquire tooling, gauging and equipment to manufacture/inspect parts and ensure quality.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to resolve moderately complex design and production issues.
• Support evaluation and input regarding advances that improve productivity and reduce flowtime.
• Provide peer mentorship and support when applicable.

Summary

The Chemical Engineer II role is a professional level position performing routine to moderately complex engineering functions on assigned projects or sub-projects of a general nature by applying standard mathematical, physical science, and/or engineering technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in the design and/or project/process management of new and current products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under technical guidance of higher-level technical experts.
• Assists in the development of test procedures and performance of routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work.
• Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, and makes recommendations for product, test equipment, procedures and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime.
• Defines and acquires tooling, gauging and other equipment necessary to manufacture/inspect parts to assure product quality.
• Partners and interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to assist in resolving moderately complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
• Supports evaluation and provide input regarding technological advances that improve productivity and quality, reduce flowtime, and enhance operational surety.
• Provides peer mentorship and support when applicable.

You Must Have

• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from and accredited program.
• Two or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
• United States Citizenship
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
• Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
