Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Trophy Club is seeking a full-time Materials Manager to oversee procurement and inventory in a fast-paced surgical setting. The role supports cost-effective purchasing and compliant distribution of supplies across departments.

Under general supervision, you will manage receiving, stocking, and inventory controls, while ensuring adherence to USPI policies and elevating patient care through reliable supply chain operations.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 2 years medical purchasing/buying experience.
  • Knowledge of computer inventory management systems and medical products.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a unit work environment aligned with USPI EDGE and mission.
  • Maintain inventory levels by checking shelves and automated system; set par levels.
  • Ensure use of USPI national agreements.
  • Coordinate with departments for placement, follow-up and delivery of orders.
  • Resolve issues with sales reps regarding supplies and deliveries.
  • Maintain document flow for the automated inventory system.
  • Receive all incoming supply and equipment items.
  • Rotate stock and check dated items.
  • Implement and maintain automated inventory system.
  • Conduct quarterly physical inventory of implants and items.
  • Perform other tasks efficiently and cost-consciously per policies.

Materials Manager at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Trophy Club:

  • Under general supervision, procures in the most cost-effective manner products and services in accordance with approved guidelines and polices.
  • Maintains the overall receiving, stocking and distribution duties adhering to all requirements of the USPI Materials Management Policy and Procedure Manual.

Qualifications

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Required Experience:
  • 2 years medical purchasing/buying experience.
  • Knowledge of computer inventory management systems, various software programs and medical products.
  • Working knowledge of stocking and storing medical and non-medical supplies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a unit work environment that reflects USPI’s EDGE, performance improvement and customer service program consistent with the Corporation’s Mission Statement.
  2. Maintains adequate inventory levels by checking shelves and automated inventory system and establishes par levels for all supplies.
  3. Ensures utilization of USPI national agreements.
  4. Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure proper placement, follow up and delivery of orders.
  5. Interacts with sales representatives resolving issues and problems related to supplies or the delivery of supplies.
  6. Establishes and maintains proper document flow and information updates for the automated inventory system.
  7. Receives all incoming supply and equipment items.
  8. Checks supply dated items and regularly rotates stock.
  9. Implements and maintains all facets of the automated inventory system.
  10. Conducts quarterly physical inventory of implants and inventory items.
  11. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost-conscious manner, complying with all USPI's policies, procedures and regulations.
