Job summary

Hospital for Special Surgery in Durham, NC is seeking a Materials Coordinator to ensure the availability of supplies, instruments, and equipment to support daily hospital operations. You will manage vendor relationships, purchasing, receiving, inventory control, par levels, and distribution to meet patient care needs.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with prior hospital experience and familiarity with Lawson MM system.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
  • Effective communication skills; both orally and written.
  • Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a hospital setting
  • Lawson MM system experience.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, processes and stocks/distributes incoming orders according to departmental procedures.
  • Collects, restocks and returns supply carts in conjunction with the Nursing Service Department personnel.
  • Arranges and rotates items on shelves.
  • Fills stock requisitions from user departments and delivers to the appropriate location.
  • Assists as needed in the pick-up and delivery of items outside the hospital.
  • Processes outbound shipping documents and packages; processes returns to vendors.
  • Adheres to all Hospital Policies and Procedures, specifically Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct, Corporate Compliance, Diversity, and Confidentiality.
  • Complies with National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Universal precautions and infection control guidelines, including hand washing guidelines followed at all times.
  • Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.
  • Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day-to-day activities of the position.
  • Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel and strategic issues.
  • Adheres to Confidentiality Policy.
  • Maintains positive working relationships and fosters cooperative work environment.
  • Adheres to the hospital's "Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct" in the HR Manual.

Essential Job Functions:
