Job summary

Legato, LLC in Annapolis Junction, MD is seeking a Materials Characterization Engineer to perform hands-on laboratory analysis using SEM, SIMS, EDS/EDX, FIB and optical microscopy to evaluate hardware and determine functionality.

We hire for entry level and experienced roles; TS/SCI w/ Polygraph clearance is required. Salary range is $90,000-$160,000 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package including PTO, holidays, health/dental/vision, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
• Experience with SEM or strong theoretical understanding of SEM.
• Knowledge of materials imaging/characterization techniques (SIMS, EDS/EDX, FIB, optical microscopy).
• Ability to analyze SEM data to evaluate hardware and determine functionality.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on laboratory analysis and characterization using SEM, SIMS, EDS/EDX, FIB and optical microscopy.
• Process and analyze SEM imagery to evaluate hardware and determine functionality.
• Own laboratory equipment, troubleshoot instrumentation, and optimize operating parameters.
• Coordinate with equipment manufacturers or service engineers when necessary.
