Responsibilities

• Ensures adequate and consistent availability of materials and equipment.
• Ensures that equipment and work areas are in proper order.
• Coordinates work orders to Engineering services.
• Assists in inventory control of material, instruments and equipment.
• Checks materials, instruments, and equipment for outdates at regularly scheduled intervals.
• Removes equipment identified as defective from service and arranges repair/loaner through materials manager.
• Disposes of contaminated materials in accordance with Infection Control policies.
• Ensures appropriate storage and rotation of materials.
• Coordinates the receiving and return of equipment and materials via sales vendors.
• Works in conjunction with the Sterile Processing Center on any sterilization requirements.

DEPARTMENT: Material Management

SCHEDULE: As needed;6:45 AM -2:45 PM; alternate Saturdays are required

SUMMARY

Performs the activities of a Materials Associate, assuring that materials and supplies are functional and at par levels. Ensures that hospital/departmental policies and procedures are being adhered to, thus ensuring quality assurance control.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures adequate and consistent availability of materials and equipment.
• Ensures that equipment and work areas are in proper order.
• Coordinates work orders to Engineering services.
• Assists in inventory control of material, instruments and equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Inventory management experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy - This category includes physically intensive work such as lifting heavy materials (up to 100 lbs.), climbing ladders, crawling into tight spaces, and working on uneven, slippery, or elevated surfaces. Employees must demonstrate strong motor coordination, balance, and spatial awareness to safely operate tools and equipment. High visual and auditory alertness is required, especially in areas with moving machinery. Emotional demands are moderate, focusing on hazard recognition, task accuracy, and adherence to safety standards. Environmental exposures may include extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, loud noise, and mechanical hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and periodic physical examinations are often required.

PAY RANGE: $17.50 - $21.58
