Job summary

Parr in Pasco, WA seeks Load Checker to safely and efficiently check loads for orders, ensuring correct labeling, sizing, and damage-free materials. This role supports yard operations and helps keep trucks on time and in full.

Requires OSHA forklift license, 1 year load-building experience, good English, ability to read tickets, and ability to operate yard equipment. Outdoor work in all weather; strong safety focus needed.

Qualifications

  • OSHA certified forklift license required or training provided.
  • Minimum of 1 year of load building experience preferred.
  • Must speak, read and write English.
  • Ability to read and interpret picking tickets and invoices.
  • Knowledge of proper labeling, protection, and damage-free handling.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately build loads by reading tickets and invoices.
  • Ensure proper labeling and securing of materials for delivery or will call.
  • Identify damaged materials and correct paperwork; keep yard clean.
  • Operate forklift and assorted yard equipment; follow safety protocols.
  • Assist with inventory control and daily safety audits.

Job description

Our customers and community members know that they can rely on us for Legendary Service and quality products.Pay: $19.97-$24.23 hourlyThe Load Checker safely and efficiently performs the “checking of loads” for all orders, including both deliveries and large will call orders. Seeks out 100% accuracy of properly tagged orders that have the correct type and size of material, quantity of products, proper sequence of materials in load, (i.e. pressure treated on top, not bottom of underfloor load, sheeting on bottom, not top of framing load), along with goods being sellable and damage free.This position is essential in larger yards to help ensure that all loads are “on time and in full.” To find errors of any kind while the trucks are in the yard saves countless hours of fixing problems and plays a large role in fulfilling PARR’s mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork.This position reports directly to the General Manager and interacts daily with Load Builders, Receiving Coordinators, Location Supervisor, Customer Service Employees, and Drivers.QualificationsOSHA Certified Forklift license (training provided)Minimum of 1 year of load building experience preferredAbility to speak, write, and read English requiredKnowledge of how loads need to be properly labeled, protected, and kept damage freeAbility to tally correct lineal footage totals on ordersAbility to read and interpret "picking tickets" and invoicesAbility to load and unload materials in a safe mannerMust be able to operate forklift, banding machine, tin snips, tape measure, power saws, hand truck, pallet jack, re-fueling stations, and all other equipment necessary for the jobAbility to utilize all appropriate safety gear required for this positionMust be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and all other equipment necessary for the jobTwo years of load building and/or yard/warehouse experience preferredTwo years of experience working with dimensional lumber, panel products, and other building materials preferredKnowledge of receiving and inventory control principles, practices, and protocols preferredAbility to read grades of lumber and other materials preferredAcceptable driving record preferredDuties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure loads are built safely and accurately by correctly reading "pick tickets" and invoicesHelp identify damaged materialEnsure that appropriate paper work is complete & scanned as per company policyMaintain yard cleanliness during course of workWhen mistakes are made, follow through with team to make system corrections as neededPerform daily safety audit of forklift and promptly reports any malfunctioning equipmentAssist with prevention of material damageIdentify areas of opportunity for best practices pertaining to handling of products, along with packaging for adverse weather conditionsPerform other related duties as assignedThis position works outside in the lumberyard in all weather conditionsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods of timeMust be able to lift/push/pull up to 90 pounds and carry objects 50 feetMust be able to work outdoors in all weather conditionsMust be able to drive a company vehicle when necessaryWe know that without great people, we can't be a great company.
