Job summary

Epiroc in Two Harbors, MN is seeking a Material Prep Operator to operate saws and support material preparation in Burn & Prep. The role ensures raw materials are cut, deburred, staged, and ready for downstream production, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

The position offers a first shift (6:00 AM–3:00 PM), onsite work, and a $1,200 sign-on bonus. A high school diploma is required, and experience in metal fabrication is a plus. Training on ERP systems will be provided.

  • Experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing materials and processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and ability to enter, track, and confirm work data.
  • Knowledge of proper use of hand tools and grinders.

  • Verify part dimensions using measuring tools such as tape measures and squares.
  • Read and interpret cut lists, prints, and work orders to determine material requirements.
  • Assist burn table operators with material staging, unloading, and part organization.

Material Prep Operator

The Material Prep Operator is responsible for operating the saw and supporting material preparation activities within the Burn & Prep department. This position ensures that raw materials are accurately cut, kitted, deburred, and staged for downstream production. The role requires attention to detail, safe material handling, and teamwork to maintain a steady flow of materials to downstream processes.

Sign-on Bonus: $1,200

Location: Two Harbors, MN facility (onsite)

Work Type: This position will be based onsite at our Two Harbors, MN facility. This job opening is not eligible for immigration/work visa sponsorship.

Shift Timing: 1st Shift: 6:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate one or more automatic or semi-automatic saws to cut metal stock to specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Verify part dimensions using appropriate measuring tools such as tape measures and squares.
  • Read and interpret cut lists, prints, and work orders to determine material requirements.
  • Assist burn table operators with material staging, unloading, and part organization.
  • Perform deburring, grinding, and cleaning of plate steel and other components as needed to prepare them for next-stage processing.
  • Kit and organize parts from saw and burn operations, staging them on appropriate pallets or racks for machining, fabrication, or assembly.
  • Communicate effectively with planners, supervisors, and team members to coordinate work and resolve issues.
  • Perform basic maintenance on saws and related equipment as required.
  • Enter and update production or material information in the ERP system as required.
  • Participate in safety and improvement initiatives within the Burn & Prep area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Burn & Prep Supervisor.
Knowledge & Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing materials and processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and the ability to enter, track, and confirm work data.
  • Knowledge of proper use of hand tools and grinders.
Skills & Abilities
  • Skilled in operating saws, forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to read blueprints, prints, and work orders accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work safely and independently in a fast‑paced environment.

Salary: $18.50 to $25.33 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
