Job summary

Wabash is seeking a Material Planner to support production through BOM reviews, daily picks, and inventory control. You will coordinate with purchasing and production to ensure material availability and timely releases of planned orders.

The role involves handling MSR/CCR entries, PIK processing in AS400, and resolving inventory discrepancies while adapting to overtime and varied conditions on the shop floor. Training is provided on-site.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Pre-employment drug screen required.
  • Must pass PIV (power industrial vehicle) training.
  • Basic reading, writing, math, & verbal skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must have both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good people skills required.
  • Must have the ability to learn and run required computer applications.
  • Possess required math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must understand and apply engineering specifications, Change Orders, and SOPs.
  • Good problem-solving skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Create, enter, and manage daily production picks.
  • Review BOMs to ensure material availability for production.
  • Pull the schedule and run the PIKs based on the schedule using PLR 100 in AS400.
  • Send daily critical parts reports to purchasing.
  • Email PIK to material coordinator to print and distribute to the team.
  • Enter MSR and/or CCR for product issues on line(s).
  • Identify and report issues with the TRS Reporting structure.
  • Assist with entering non-conforming tags, scrap tags, and RTW.
  • Help locate missing material on lines.
  • Verify inventory levels and ensure accuracy across warehouse and production locations.
  • Investigate and resolve negative inventory issues.
  • Perform daily soft counts and correct inventory discrepancies.
  • Walk production lines to identify excess materials and assist with inventories and returns.
  • Convert released planned orders for production.
  • Monitor fab planner by closing/deleting/releasing planned orders.
  • Address material shortages by coordinating with production, purchasing, planners, and related departments.
  • Coordinate with production coordinators, supervisors, planners, and purchasing teams.
  • Maintain knowledge of warehouse functions within AS400.
  • Understand controlled storage and outside storage locations.
  • Utilize knowledge of line locations and material drop areas.
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Be willing to work overtime and in adverse weather conditions as needed.
  • Handle additional tasks as they arise throughout the day.

Job description

Position Description:

Material Planner are tasked to work on a variety of different components that vary from location to location. Activities include, but are not limited to, reviewing BOM's, coordinating and supporting daily counts, communicating daily critical parts to purchasing, converting planned orders into production orders, covering line planners when needed, walking the lines and Identifying parts that can be returned and assisting production with correcting inventory so they can return excess materials, Monitoring picks, Kanban racks, and negatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

Experience and education are a plus; however, it's not required. Wabash provides training for all material handler positions. Upon receiving a letter from us, you'll undergo orientation and several days of training, preparing you for the production floor. Working conditions may consist of loud noise, welding, paint fumes, and grinding dust.
