Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is hiring a Material Planner for our client in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry in the Cincinnati area. The role focuses on ensuring raw materials and packaging are available on schedule to support production and meet demand.

You will work with purchasing, production, and suppliers, monitor inventories, and optimize material flow while tracking KPIs and driving cost efficiencies.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of material planning, supply chain, or inventory management experience in a CPG/manufacturing environment.
• CPG industry experience is required.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with SAP or Oracle and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of JIT manufacturing and standard inventory practices.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and use PPE as required.

Responsibilities

Vaco is hiring a Material Planner for our client in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.

This is a hybrid opportunity in the Northern Cincinnati area supporting production operations and supply chain activities.

Job Summary

The Material Planner will ensure raw materials and packaging are available in the correct quantities and on schedule to support production. This role will work closely with purchasing, production, suppliers, and production planning to meet demand efficiently, prevent production delays, and minimize excess inventory.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels for raw materials and packaging to prevent production delays while minimizing excess inventory.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely material delivery, address supply disruptions, and negotiate delivery schedules when needed.
• Partner with production planners to align material availability with production schedules and optimize workflow.
• Analyze demand forecasts and production plans to anticipate material requirements and adjust orders accordingly.
• Place material orders based on production needs, monitor order status, and follow up on outstanding orders to prevent shortages.
• Track inventory and procurement metrics, analyze material usage trends, and report on KPIs such as inventory levels, material costs, and supply chain efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory management, supplier performance, and order accuracy.
• Maintain material master data, including minimum order quantities (MOQ), rounding values, cost, and lead time.

Required Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in material planning, supply chain, or inventory management within a CPG or manufacturing environment.
• Previous Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry experience is required.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with inventory management systems such as SAP or Oracle and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Working knowledge of supply chain principles, production processes, and just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk as required; occasionally bend and move throughout facilities; and lift or move up to 10 pounds.
• Ability to use required PPE based on the task and applicable product specifications or safety data sheets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
• Experience supporting food production or another production-based CPG environment.
• Experience working with raw materials and packaging within a manufacturing operation
