Job description

Summary

Performs the duties of a courier, receives deliveries, completes inventory on select units, delivers orders, performs all mail duties and insures all areas in the Medical Center have an appropriate supply of materials to work with.
Responsibilities

(25%)* Accurately loads orders into Medical Center DREQ. Fills orders and store requisitions and delivers supplies to departments as requested or as needed.

(25%)* Determines correct quantity of items for Medical Center units. Completes cycle counts on the nursing and ER units and restocks on a daily basis.

(25%)* Unloads and receives all incoming deliveries and documents accurately.

(25%)* Delivers and picks up mail from the post office; ships other items via United Parcel Service or other common carriers.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Delivers emergency supplies to and from other hospitals or businesses when necessary.

Assists supervisor and others during periods of increased activity; performs other duties as assigned.

Employee displays a positive, courteous and helpful attitude towards patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers within and outside the department.

Employee maintains a professional appearance, adheres to the dress code and wears the appropriate I.D. badge.

Consistently strives to exceed customer expectations and promotes patient satisfaction.

Attends comprehensive in-service annually.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Organization skills, manual dexterity, customer service skills, communication skills, teamwork skills, and computer skills are required.

Prior experience within a storeroom setting preferred.

Must have a current, valid Michigan driver�s license and maintain a good driving record.

Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done annually.

Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
