Job summary

Nucor is offering a Process Engineer Intern position in Material Handling for Summer 2027. The internship supports process engineering activities within material handling operations, shipping and processing, with emphasis on continuous improvement and contractor oversight.

You will collect and analyze data, help develop standard work, and partner with logistics, operations, and maintenance teams to implement improvements.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Process, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Rising junior or senior standing.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support process engineering initiatives within material handling operations, including shipping and material processing workflows.
• Assist with the identification, scoping, and documentation of process improvement opportunities across material handling functions.
• Support coordination and performance oversight of contractors performing material handling, shipping, or material processing work.
• Collect and analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks, safety risks, or efficiency opportunities in shipping and material processing.
• Support development of standard work, process documentation, and continuous improvement recommendations.
• Partner with logistics, operations, maintenance, and contractor teams to implement and validate process improvements.
