Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join our distribution center team in Jacksonville. This role involves operating a forklift, loading/unloading materials, and ensuring safe handling of building products.

We offer a fixed wage of $21.86 per hour, a Monday–Friday schedule, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, PTO and holidays.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely operate forklift.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to work independently under pressure.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift per safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

The fixed rate is $21.86 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations. BlueLinx also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health care, dental, vision, life and disability insurance starting the first day of the month, 15 days of paid time off that start accruing your first day, and 8 paid holidays per year.
