Job summary

BlueLinx Holdings Inc. is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator for our distribution center in Denville, NJ. This role offers a fixed wage of $27.65 per hour and a Monday–Friday schedule, supporting a safety‑driven, team‑oriented operation.

You will operate forklift, load/unload building materials, prepare distribution paperwork, perform equipment inspections, and assist inventory counts, with the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Prior forklift/warehouse experience is required.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift to transport products.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read sales orders and safety material.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For:

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history

The fixed rate is $27.15 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
