A leading company is seeking a Material Handler to manage the movement of materials at their site in Painesville, Ohio. This position involves loading and unloading trailers, supporting inventory accuracy, maintaining a safe work environment, and assisting in equipment maintenance. Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing, demonstrating strong safety awareness and proficiency with inventory systems.
Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for the movement of material throughout the site. This may include loading/unloading of trailers and movement of raw materials, work in process, and finished goods. The typical hours of this position are Monday through Friday 3:20pm-11:30pm.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Activities and duties may vary depending upon site specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finished, Shipping, Receiving, and manufacturing areas.
Unload/load trucks/tankers with incoming/outgoing materials. - Verify materials against receiving/shipping documents.
Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System.
Support inventory accuracy:
Complete warehouse and departmental cycles counts and correct discrepancies
Help manage winding drum and rack inventories
Raw/Finishing warehouse:
Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets, and other consumable supplies to/from production areas as required.
Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping
Perform all assignments, duties, and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately.
Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.
Maintain a safe, clean work area.
Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed.
Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations.
Lead in the recycling of pallets, cardboard, and scrap materials.
Support all 5S housekeeping activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.
Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.
Must regard safety as a core value; must serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.
Must have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / education team in a timely manner.
Must be able to actively contribute in a team based environment; encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach a common goal.
Must demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge; must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills.
Must have demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus.
Must be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
Must demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong MFG Pro transactional skills.
Must be able to obtain Lift Truck Operator’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
