Responsibilities

Hamilton Company is seeking a Material Handler-Saw Operator to join our machine shop production team. The role involves organizing and moving materials, including receiving, kitting, and documenting materials used or consumed by the machine shop.

Employee responsibilities include:

1. Maintaining regular and consistent attendance.
2. Contributing to continuous improvement activities.
3. Completing assigned tasks adequately and timely.
4. Communicating and documenting daily activities using Microsoft Office.
5. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area and equipment.
6. Reporting problems to the Supervisor.

Material Handler responsibilities include:

1. Operating area equipment safely and consistently.
2. Coordinating with supervisors or area leads regarding production orders.
3. Documenting daily production orders, material counts, and area maintenance.
4. Recording material consumption for production orders.
5. Packaging, labeling, and transporting materials to subsequent production stages.
6. Receiving and organizing new material shipments.
7. Managing machine shop chip bins.
8. Using band saw or circular saw to cut materials to length.
9. Monitoring and adjusting inventory of materials and consumables.
10. Communicating with planning or production supervisors about orders exceeding current stock.

Qualifications

1. Must be a team player and collaborative.
2. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
3. Adaptability to changing work environments and demands.
4. Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
5. Experience managing databases or archives related to production and inventory.
6. Adherence to established procedures.
7. Experience or exposure to equipment such as measuring tapes, roller carts, pallets, pallet jacks, forklifts, Kardex storage systems, circular saws, band saws, and disc sanders.

Education/Experience

1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. Forklift certification preferred.
3. Mechanical experience and aptitude preferred.
