Hours of Operation are Monday - Friday, 5am - 6pm (You could work 1st, 2nd, or Mid shifts)
The Material Handler Receiving Lead should master all Material Handler 2 responsibilities and demonstrate efficiency in equipment operation and daily transaction codes within the department. The Receiving Lead oversees daily functions, sets high standards for the Receiving department, and assists the Receiving Supervisor in daily operations as needed. This individual must perform all Material Handler 2 responsibilities and some SAP transactions at a high level while coaching and mentoring Material Handlers. Material handlers must maintain a clean, safe, organized work area and be able to manually move and lift 50 lbs., frequently moving over 100 lbs. They must be able to work scheduled shifts and follow directions.
Job Description
- Assist in and/or perform all pre-shift processes.
- Conduct start of shift meetings professionally.
- Lead the team on the floor with clear, concise directions.
- Perform receiving functions: identify product, sort inbound shipments/returns, move materials, transfer inbound shipments to dock or return bins.
- Safely load/unload trucks using manual methods, sit-down forklift, or pallet jack.
- Oversee department activities to ensure timely completion of workloads.
- Set high standards for Material Handlers during unloading, sorting, inspecting, storing, and replenishing material.
- Communicate effectively within the department and with other departments.
- Identify training opportunities and mentor Material Handlers.
- Use computer programs for training and assist others.
- Participate in disciplinary actions as needed.
- Promote safety compliance within the Receiving department.
- Collaborate with the supervisor and assist in disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Use RF devices and SAP for systematic functions related to inbound material.
- Participate in cycle counting as needed.
- Verify received goods against purchase orders, packing lists, and invoices.
- Manually handle boxes and items, placing them onto/off pallets and crates.
- Print documents and labels using computer systems.
- Adapt to daily workflow changes.
- Designate final destinations for incoming materials.
- Review and act on reports related to SKU location, velocity, replenishment, and pick reports.
- Teach, coach, and train department staff.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to the supervisor.
- Properly use equipment including forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and pallet jacks.
- Ensure pallets and items are properly labeled and documented.
- Monitor work to ensure materials are secured before storage.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Meet attendance requirements; work long hours, nights, and weekends when necessary.
- Maintain a positive, clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years warehouse/distribution experience.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Strong work ethic.
- Experience with sit-down forklift, reach truck, and order picker.
- Current certification or ability to certify within 30 days.
- Basic organizational, mathematical, and computer skills.
- Knowledge of safety measures.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and over 100 lbs. frequently.
- Ability to work at heights and in various physical positions.
- Ability to work independently and in groups.
- Ability to move trailers with a yard dog/switcher within the complex.
