Job summary

Seaport Steel Company in Airway Heights, WA seeks an overhead crane operator. You will operate traveling or stationary ground-controlled cranes to move steel loads within the production facility, observing load safety and maintaining equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, or related experience, basic math and reading skills, and steel-toed shoes. Work is full-time with an 8-hour shift, breaks as described, and a starting pay between $20.00 and $28.25 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED or related experience.
  • Language: Ability to read and write simple instructions and memos.
  • Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and compute rates and percentages.
  • Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense to follow written or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead crane (traveling or stationary) to lift and position steel loads.
  • Observe load hookup and safety, control crane movement.
  • Inspect crane and hoisting mechanism for defects and notify supervisor.
  • Wear steel-toed shoes and follow workplace safety rules.

The higher end of the range, $28.25, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.Summary: Operates traveling or stationary overhead crane (ground controlled) to lift, move, and position steel loads within the production facility.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Observe load hookup and determine the safety of the load.Manipulates or depresses crane control buttons, to regulate the speed and direction of crane and hoist movement.Uses hoisting attachments such as hook, sling, or bucket as load requires.Cleans and maintains a crane and hoisting mechanism.Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
