Job summary

The Carlstar Group in Clinton, TN seeks a reliable Material Handler to move materials across the production floor, read schedules, and load/unload as needed. You will ensure accurate inventory, label materials correctly, and transport items to staging areas while adhering to safety rules.

Responsibilities include operating powered equipment, performing inventory audits, maintaining FIFO, and delivering materials on time to support production goals.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a manufacturing or distribution operation preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to meet ergonomic/physical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand production schedules and product specifications.
  • Select required materials from storage areas and assemble in orders, pack and/or repack materials as required, apply labels, stickers or markers and transport into staging areas.
  • Safely transport materials through the production areas, including loading or unloading trucks as required, using a variety of powered industrial vehicles.
  • Perform audits on inventory, maintain FIFO process, ensure material is located in its proper areas.
  • Tag and report any material suspected of being out of specification.
  • Adhere to prescribed safety rules and regulations.

Job Purpose Statement:Material Handler is a position that is responsible for the movement of materials and supplies throughout the production environment. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory is in place to support production and ensure only the correct materials are delivered for use and are properly labeled and located.Summary of Responsibility:Read and understand production schedules and product specificationsSelect required materials from storage areas and assemble in orders, pack and/or repack materials as required, apply labels, stickers or markers and transport into staging areasSafely transport materials through the production areas, including loading or unloading trucks as required, using a variety of powered industrial vehiclesPerform all safety checkout documentation, and report all faulty or defective equipmentPerform audits on inventory, maintain FIFO process, ensure material is located in its proper areasInterface with tablets, handheld scanners, computer software, equipment PLC / HMISupport production goals by delivering correct materials on timeTag and report any material suspected of being out of specificationMaintain a clean and organized work area.Adhere to prescribed safety rules and regulations.Identify any material that may affect inventory accuracyPerform other duties as assigned.Education, Experience and Skills Required:High School diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 1 year in a manufacturing/distribution operation preferredAbility to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting production and quality goalsAbility to obtain and maintain a valid forklift or equipment license as needed or requiredMust read, write and communicate in EnglishErgonomic & Physical Requirements:Must be able to meet the Ergonomic as well as the Physical Base Score for this position.Standing or Walking up to 90% of the dayLift / Carry 25lb constantly, up to 100lb occasionallyPush / Pull 50lb constantly, up to 150lb occasionallyGrasp 75lbPinch 15lbLift bulky objectsAny lifting over 70 lbs. must be completed with assistance i.e. mechanical or individual.Full range of motion required: Cervical, Shoulders, Elbow, Wrist, Fingers, Hands, Truck Twist, and Feet.Ability to wear PPE as requiredWorking Conditions may include: moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, static shock, high temperatures.
