The Lead Material Handler is responsible for recommending, implementing, and enforcing controls that ensure the accurate and timely accounting for all activities related to warehouse/inventory management. This position will generate meaningful reports that drive cost improvements and enhance operating efficiency. Other responsibilities include:
- Coordinate warehousing operations, including ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of equipment and materials. Maintain tracking of equipment/parts sent for repairs.
- Authorize and coordinate work performed by contracted shops for repairs/exchange of remanufactured parts used in plants and gathering systems.
- Identify and locate surplus items suitable for reuse within the company.
- Manage inventory, including setting up new items, reviewing and correcting existing items, and supporting searches for inventory across locations using ERP software.
- Assist Operations and Accounting with monthly inventory reconciliation and periodic physical counts.
- Maintain Oracle warehouse data, conduct physical inventory audits, reconcile with accounting systems, and prepare material transfers or disposals.
- Develop and manage a methodology for critical spare parts inventory.
- Work with technicians and supervision to identify materials needed for upcoming work.
- Order parts promptly and make quick decisions for emergency supplies.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on inventory control procedures, providing guidance to Operations on critical spare parts management.
- Review inventory data and generate reports as required.
- Monitor for obsolete materials and recommend inventory reductions or consolidations.
- Support asset recovery programs as needed.
- Organize and set up physical inventories to improve efficiency and meet parts needs.
The successful candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 8 years of inventory control or warehouse management experience.
- Knowledge of conducting physical inventory audits.
- Understanding of standard accounting practices related to inventory transfer.
- Articulate, organized, detail-oriented, with strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to produce accurate, understandable reports and records.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with Indus EMPAC or Oracle preferred.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to collaborate with field, administrative, and accounting personnel.
- Knowledge of shipping and freight practices.
- Capable of developing and maintaining spreadsheets and records.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact at all organizational levels.
- This position requires on-call, after-hours, and weekend work.
