Job summary

Sumitomo Drive Technologies USA in Chesapeake, VA seeks a warehouse associate to load/unload, store and move materials. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, fill requisitions, and ship products to departments and assembly lines, while upholding 5S standards and safety policies.

Experience with forklift operation, warehouse procedures, and material handling is required. Lift up to 50 pounds; work in a loud industrial environment with an emphasis on safety.

Qualifications

• Forklift experience required.
• General knowledge of warehouse procedures expected.
• Three (3) years of material handling experience required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unpack, check and store merchandise or materials.
• Fill requisitions and orders.
• Pack, crate and ship products and materials to departments or assembly lines.
• Drive forklift, WAV or pallet jack to move bulk products.
• Perform pre-shift equipment checks and operate powered industrial equipment.
• May involve lifting up to 50 pounds as part of regular daily tasks.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles.
• Follow safety and regulatory policies at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

The base hourly range for this role is $21.44 - $26.77. Final salary will be based on experience.

Purpose And Scope Of Job

• Primarily responsible for loading, unloading, moving and stocking materials in the warehouse.

Essential Functions (other Duties May Be Assigned)

• Receive, unpack, check and store merchandise or materials
• Fill requisitions and orders
• Pack, crate and ship products and materials to departments or assembly lines
• Drive forklift, WAV (walk assist vehicle) or use pa;;et jack to move bulk products to the proper destination point.
• Perform pre-shift equipment checks and safely operate powered industrial equipment.
• Manual lifting will be required as part of regular daily work.
• Keep all direct work areas clean and well organized. Actively practice a culture of 5S (Sort, Set and Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) in the warehouse.
• Ensure all safety & regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Forklift experience
• General knowledge of warehouse procedures
• Three (3) years of material handling experience.
