Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Material Handler 2 for an on-site role. You will load, unload, stage, and move freight, while ensuring safety protocol and accurate documentation.

You will support drivers and help with dock coordination in a fast-paced multimodal terminal environment. Qualified candidates have 1-3 years of dock/warehouse experience, a high school diploma or GED, and forklift certification or the ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 1-3 years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Strong English communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to read numbers, barcodes, and freight markings.
• Comfort with basic computer systems and handheld scanners.

Responsibilities

• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and adhere to PPE standards.
