Job summary

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, label, receive, store, stage, issue, transfer, and distribute materials, components, supplies, equipment, and finished goods in accordance with company procedures.
  • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and other receiving documentation.
  • Inspect shipments for visible damage, quantity discrepancies, labeling issues, or other nonconformances and promptly report concerns to Quality or the appropriate department.
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments safely and efficiently.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, and other material‑handling equipment in accordance with company safety requirements and authorization standards.
  • Deliver materials to fulfillment lines, work centers, staging areas, and other internal locations based on fulfillment priorities.
  • Pick, transact, stage, and issue materials accurately in accordance with work‑order requirements and fulfillment schedules.
  • Complete inventory transactions for receipts, transfers, issues, returns, replenishment, and location changes within the company ERP system or Warehouse Management System.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure materials are stored in the correct physical and system locations with appropriate labeling, identification, and traceability.
  • Perform cycle counts, physical‑inventory activities, location audits, and inventory‑verification tasks to support inventory accuracy.
  • Research and report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, missing components, and incorrect warehouse transactions; do not independently approve adjustments related to work personally performed.
  • Replenish fulfillment and warehouse locations to maintain applicable inventory levels and reduce the risk of material shortages.
  • Support variance reconciliation, nonconforming‑material movement, and disposition activities as directed and in accordance with segregation‑of‑duties requirements.
  • Coordinate with Fulfillment, Planning, Procurement, Quality, Shipping, Receiving, and other support departments to ensure material availability in accordance with business needs.
  • Communicate material shortages, work‑order discrepancies, inventory issues, and material damage to the appropriate supervisor or department in a timely manner.
  • Follow established procedures for handling high‑value, controlled, sensitive, and electrostatic‑discharge‑sensitive materials, including applicable storage, labeling, security, traceability, and movement requirements.
  • Maintain clearly labeled and organized warehouse locations and ensure materials are stored safely, securely, and in their designated physical and system locations.
  • Conduct all work in compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, safety procedures, security requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace in accordance with 5S controls and established standards.
  • Identify and recommend continuous‑improvement opportunities related to material flow, warehouse organization, inventory accuracy, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide peer training, procedural guidance, and operational support to Material Handler I employees and newly assigned team members, as applicable; this responsibility does not include formal supervisory or performance‑management authority.
  • Assist other warehouse and logistics functions during peak periods, physical inventories, special projects, system implementations, and changing fulfillment demands.
  • Complete required documentation and maintain accurate records related to material transactions, inventory, shipments, equipment inspections, training, and assigned activities.
  • Seek guidance from the appropriate supervisor whenever instructions, procedures, material status, or safety requirements are unclear.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in warehouse operations, material handling, inventory control, shipping and receiving, logistics, or a related operational environment.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material‑handling equipment, with current certification or the ability to obtain company-required certification after hire.
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience using inventory‑management, ERP, or Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory‑control practices, and shipping and receiving processes.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret part numbers, quantities, inventory locations, labels, work orders, packing slips, and other warehouse documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to inventory accuracy, quality, and safety.
  • Ability to organize work, prioritize assignments, and respond to changing fulfillment requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast‑paced team environment.
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, alternate shifts, or extended hours when required by operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience using ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems, barcode scanners, handheld inventory devices, or automated material‑tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory‑control principles, cycle counting, stock rotation, material traceability, and shipping and receiving requirements.
  • Experience with line‑side material delivery, fulfillment replenishment, kitting, staging, or work‑order material issuance.
  • Experience working in electronics manufacturing, contract manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, or another regulated operational environment.
  • Familiarity with electrostatic‑discharge controls, controlled‑material requirements, or quality‑management procedures.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, or warehouse‑optimization practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, or provide procedural guidance to warehouse team members.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • This position operates primarily within a fast‑paced warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, and logistics environment. Employees may work near moving equipment, forklifts, fulfillment activity, and varying noise levels.
  • The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday. The employee must be able to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and may handle heavier materials using appropriate equipment, assistance, or team‑lifting procedures.
  • Work may be performed in areas with varying temperatures and may require the use of personal protective equipment.
  • The position may require overtime, weekend work, shift flexibility, or extended hours based on fulfillment and operational requirements.
