Position Summary
Performs any one or combination of related material handling activities. Operates forklift to complete material movement, loads/unloads, sorts and stores materials/products onto pallets and carts. Picks, issues, counts, labels raw materials and work in process (WIP) to the production lines and back to stock. Inspects documentation for conformity. Operates a computer and provides back up for all related jobs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Issues and returns materials to and from the production lines. Completes daily room checklist. Maintains compliance training and certification for assigned area. Performs and documents inventory cycle counts.
- Maintains accurate data entries. Controls material damage. Identifies inventory discrepancies and takes appropriate action to reconcile the condition. Assists support groups in the resolution of material discrepancies.
- Maintains safe conveyance of loaded commodity carts and mechanical moving equipment. Follows area safety guidelines. Immediately reports damage or safety related items to area supervisor.
- Delivers, unloads and correctly identifies raw materials in conventional storage locations. Assists support groups in resolving inventory discrepancies. Proactively maintains accurate inventory levels, reducing the need to perform general inventory.
- Communicates daily with assigned production line and other support groups ensuring material needs are met. Maintains a professional temperament in dealing with fellow employees. Provides back up support for all area material handlers. Responds timely to production schedule and needs to prevent operational down time.
- Works in a team environment, which includes but is not limited to problem solving, utilizing interpersonal skills to coordinate activities, effectively communicate verbal and written instructions. Adapts to changing environment and/or situations in a constructive manner. Assists in area improvements, department changes and meetings.
- Adhere to cGMP guidelines, SOP's and plant rules/policies.
- Determines commodity needs and requirements based on operational schedule.
- Works with the team to reach consensus.
- Recognizes inventory discrepancies and reconciles accordingly
- Ability to operate a forklift in confined areas and determines best course of action.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English. Basic operational knowledge of computers.
- Must be able to do mathematical calculations.
- Possess the willingness/ability to handle additional responsibility.
- Must be able to obtain a forklift license which will require ability to complete and pass a forklift physical, written test, and operate a forklift safely. Basic knowledge of computers.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Two years' experience working in a materials or manufacturing environment preferred.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment.
- Must wear hearing protection, safety shoes, prescription glasses (if prescribed) and any/all personal protective equipment (PPE) required to perform job in assigned areas.
- Conveyance of loaded or empty material racks, loads can weigh as much as 900 pounds. Repetitive lifting of up to 50 pounds is not uncommon.
- Ability to push carts containing heavy loads and able to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
