Job summary

Veoliaenvironnementsa job posting seeks an operator to prepare hazardous waste for incineration, stage materials, and repackage per process plans. You will wear PPE, follow safety rules, and operate equipment through various steps of processing and packaging waste for incineration.

The role requires handling hazardous materials, forklift experience, and the ability to lift and work outdoors in changing conditions. Training leads to higher pay and advancement within the incineration process.

Qualifications

  • Fork truck operation and tool usage experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble boxes and stage materials for processing and repackaging waste into charge boxes for the incinerator.
  • PPE and safety procedures for environmental protection.
  • Break down waste materials from vendor containers and dumps into a mixing pan.
  • Process materials into solids, mixes and slurries per plan; weigh charges to spec.

Rotating ShiftPlease see below for the details of the rotating shift schedule:- First two weeks: 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.- Next two weeks: 6:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m .Every other weekendPay Rate- $24.40/hr with a $2.00 shift differential.Please note that candidates must be comfortable working outdoor s and maintaining a clean-shaven appearance.Position Purpose:Performs duties required to prepare hazardous waste materials for incineration in a safe and efficient manner; breaks down and extracts material from various containers and repackages per process plan for feeding into theincinerator.Primary Duties /Responsibilities:Assemble boxes and stage all necessary materials for processing and repackaging waste into charge boxes for the incinerator.Suit up with proper personal protection equipment and other necessary equipment for environmental protection.Adhere to all site safety policies, including but not limited to cell-phone usage, PPE requirements and life saving rules.Break down and extract waste materials (including hard solids that may require jackhammer) from various vendor containers and dumps into a mixing pan.Process materials into various combinations of solids, mixes and/or slurries and repackages into charge boxes per process/plan; weighs all charges to meet, process, plan specifications.Record all material processed to maintain in-process inventory data using electronic scanning devices.Shrink-wrap charges; move to incinerator dock for burning.Consolidate material from drums into roll-off containers for incineration.Reclaim vendor drums for recycling and crush drums that are not re-usable.Dump waste hoppers and clean the process area and maintain cleanliness around the department.Change out air supply banks (provides clean air source for personal protective suits) as required.Maintain a complete inventory of personal protection equipment and other department supplies.Communicate with all leadmen and on-coming shift crews as required.Other duties as assigned.Education / Experience / Background:High School diploma or GED requiredAdd, subtract, multiply and divide decimals and fractions, simple use of formulas, charts, use adjustable measuring instruments where interpretation is required.Experience with hazardous chemicals, driving fork trucks and usingvarious tools is considered a plus.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Ability to communicate through reading and writingTrained in the use of material handling equipmentAbility to work around and with hazardous chemicals.Required Certification / Licenses / Training:Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferredPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to work outside/inside in hot and cold circumstancesMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical exam.Hourly Pay: $24.40, with anticipated increase up to $32.02 upon completion of training. Potential to grow into an incinerator operator role with a pay of $38.19.
