Responsibilities

• Receive, unload and store materials in inventory.
• Transport materials and equipment to assembly areas using forklift.
• Operate industrial forklift to handle materials.
• Inspect and report on safety and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain clean work areas and recycle materials as needed.
• Record production data and material movements.
• Prepare materials for production and loading.
• Support equipment maintenance and lubrication tasks.
• Assist with repair of tools and production equipment.
• Operate grinding equipment as required.

Key Job Elements

• Receive, identify and unload materials/parts and store in inventory;
• Identify, draw from inventory and transport material, parts and equipment associated with the assembly of locomotives to and from assembly areas, machines, loading docks and other areas;
• Operate industrial forklift to perform material handling assignments;
• Inspect and complete reports related to safe operation and maintenance of material handling equipment.
• Clean work areas;
• Operate recycling equipment;
• Clean materials to prepare them for production;
• Record operational or production data;
• Clean production equipment;
• Lubricate production equipment;
• Repair production equipment or tools;
• Operate grinding equipment.

Education / Training

High School Diploma or GED

Qualifications And Experience

• Industrial labor experience, preferred;
• Ability in work outside in all weather conditions;
• Ability to stand for long periods of time;
• Ability to follow safety and procedural rules.
• Forklift Operation experience preferred

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:

• Strength – Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Requires stamina and strength;
• Motion – Position requires standing majority of the day. Occasional sitting, frequent walking, climbing of steps and stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; reaching with hands & arms; using hands to finger, handle or feel objects, and tools or controls;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Position is exposed to high levels of noise and vibration. Specific vision abilities include long & short distance sight, depth perception & focusing. The use of proper PPE is required;
• Work Environment – Position can be located inside or outside, dependent on situation. When inside, the employees are subject to temperature extremes in non-temperature-controlled environments. When outside employees are subject to all weather elements. In both cases, employees will work with industrial scrap materials. The environment requires working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, mobile equipment, and other machinery;
• Emotional Demands – Employee is expected to work and cooperate as part of team in order to meet production requirements;
• Safety – Position is safety sensitive, as it requires working in and around heavy equipment and moving mechanical parts. Position requires strict adherence to safety policies and use of all PPE.
