Job summary

Wabash in Lafayette, IN is seeking material handlers to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, tuggers, tractors, hoists, and cranes, with training provided. The role includes receiving and shipping tasks and ensuring lines are stocked and safe procedures are followed.

Wabash emphasizes safety and teamwork; no prior experience is required as comprehensive training is provided, including PPE usage and on-the-job instruction to prepare you for production work on the floor.

Qualifications

• High school degree or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be able to pass PIV (power industrial vehicle) training.
• Basic reading, writing, math, & verbal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Owning and helping improve our performance in Safety, Quality, and Delivery
• Maintaining and reporting daily receiving and shipping activities
• Reporting defects and needs for repairs
• Keeping lines stocked with the proper materials
• Performing additional work as assigned by the supervisor or coordinator, which may require the employee to assist in different departments
• Wearing approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, respirators, hearing protection, etc.
• Completing assigned duties in accordance with safety, policies, and practices, including your individual safety, as well as the safety of co-workers, and the safe use of equipment in the workplace
