Job summary

BlueLinx Holdings Inc. is seeking a Material Handler and Forklift Operator to support our distribution center operations in Independence, KY.

The role emphasizes safe handling, accurate material movement, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. You will operate forklifts, load/unload materials, perform inspections, and help maintain orderly warehouse conditions while following established procedures and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.
