Job summary

BlueLinx is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator for our distribution center. You will operate a forklift, load and unload materials, and assist with inventory and paperwork to keep shipments moving safely and efficiently.

This role offers a fixed wage at or above local minimum wage, a Monday–Friday schedule, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely operate a forklift to transport products.
• Able to understand and follow directions.
• Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs and performing physical tasks.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare distribution and shipping paperwork.
• Perform daily equipment inspection and maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For:

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history
