Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator in Grand Rapids, MI. The role offers a fixed wage with a Monday–Friday schedule and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, PTO, and holidays.

You will operate a forklift, load/unload materials, prepare shipping paperwork, and perform routine equipment inspections.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, and safety material.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in accordance with training and safety guidelines.
• Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars with minimal damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history
