Job summary

Wabash is seeking a Material Handler in Lafayette, IN to operate diverse equipment and support production on the shop floor. Training will be provided to operate forklifts, tuggers, tractors, hoists, and cranes, with emphasis on safety and accuracy in receiving, storing, and shipping materials.

The role requires basic reading, writing, math, and verbal skills, plus a willingness to learn. Expect a production environment with PPE and routine safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school degree or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be able to pass PIV (power industrial vehicle) training.
• Basic reading, writing, math, & verbal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Owning and helping improve our performance in Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
• Maintaining and reporting daily receiving and shipping activities.
• Reporting defects and needs for repairs.
• Keeping lines stocked with the proper materials.
• Performing additional work as assigned by the supervisor or coordinator, which may require the employee to assist in different departments.
• Wearing approved personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, respirators, hearing protection, etc.
• Completing assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices, including your safety and the safety of co-workers.
