Sonoco is hiring a Material Handler I in Hartselle, AL. The role focuses on moving wood reels and raw materials, using forklifts, and coordinating with production teams to keep materials flowing safely and efficiently.

The position requires physical work, good attendance, and the ability to read manufacturing instructions. OT may be available, with a first shift from early morning hours.

Qualificações

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate with production team to optimize product/material flow and meet line metrics.
• Assist the plant in various areas as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and 5S standards in the work area and department.
• Ensure accurate documentation of quantities moved.
• Perform tasks safely and efficiently.
• Conduct daily inspection of material handling equipment.

Position: Material Handler I Location: Hartselle Wood Reels Pay Rate: $21.58/hour Shift: First (6a-2p) with some OT

While reporting to the Team Lead as a Material Handler, you'll play a key role in the movement and organization of raw materials and finished wood reels throughout the facility. You'll work closely with production, shipping, and inventory teams to ensure materials are delivered efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:

• Load, unload, and transport wood components and finished reels using forklifts and other equipment
• Collaborate with production team members to facilitate product/material flow and achieve critical line metrics.
• Assist the plant in various areas
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and department, as well as 5S standards.
• Ensure accurate documentation of quantities loaded or unloaded.
• Execute all tasks safely and efficiently.
• Conduct a daily inspection of the material handling equipment.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations a plus
• Excellent attendance is crucial to ensure the team's success.
• A proven record of success in a fast-paced environment is required.
• You must be able to collaborate well with different teams and be attentive to identifying discrepancies.
• You'll take pride in your analytical and hands-on abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Physical requirements include being able to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for at least 8 hours.
• You should be able to read and comprehend manufacturing instructions.
• You'll be required to work overtime when necessary.
