Job summary

Sonoco Products Company in Jefferson, TX is seeking a Material Handler on the Third Shift (11p-7a), Monday–Friday with occasional OT. You will move and organize raw materials and finished reels, support production, shipping, and inventory teams, and operate forklifts to ensure smooth material flow.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, can lift 50 pounds, maintain excellent attendance, and read manufacturing instructions.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Experience in material handling or warehouse operations is a plus.
• Excellent attendance and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport wood components and finished reels using forklifts and other equipment.
• Collaborate with production, shipping, and inventory teams to optimize material flow.
• Assist the plant in various areas as needed.
• Maintain 5S standards and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Document quantities loaded or unloaded accurately and conduct daily equipment inspections.
• Work safely and efficiently, with overtime as required.

Pay Rate: $20.98/HR
Shift: Third Shift (11p-7a), M-F, with occasional OT

While reporting to the Team Lead as a Material Handler, you'll play a key role in the movement and organization of raw materials and finished wood reels throughout the facility. You'll work closely with production, shipping, and inventory teams to ensure materials are delivered efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport wood components and finished reels using forklifts and other equipment


• Collaborate with production team members to facilitate product/material flow and achieve critical line metrics.


• Assist the plant in various areas


• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and department, as well as 5S standards.


• Ensure accurate documentation of quantities loaded or unloaded.


• Execute all tasks safely and efficiently.


• Conduct a daily inspection of the material handling equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred


• Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations a plus


• Excellent attendance is crucial to ensure the team's success.


• A proven record of success in a fast-paced environment is required.


• You must be able to collaborate well with different teams and be attentive to identifying discrepancies.


• You'll take pride in your analytical and hands-on abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.


• Physical requirements include being able to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for at least 8 hours.


• You should be able to read and comprehend manufacturing instructions.


• You'll be required to work overtime when necessary.
