Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Lanett, AL is seeking a Material Handler to ensure safe and efficient movement of materials in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You will operate material handling equipment, load/unload trucks, and ensure production lines stay supplied.

The role requires at least 2 years of material handling experience, basic math, and strong teamwork. Medical, 401K, and PTO benefits are offered, with a drug screen after a conditional offer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read general information and follow short instructions, lists, notes, and labels.
• Ability to complete forms and communicate simple instructions in writing.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to perform routine tasks that require following a sequence of steps in a specific order.
• Ability to recognize and resolve routine problems within established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Load finished goods onto transport trucks for shipment to customers.
• Move WIP materials from cutters and presses and store them in designated rack locations.
• Unload WIP materials and paper rolls from incoming trucks and record inventory in the BPCS system.
• Transport WIP materials from warehouse racks to gluing machines to support production needs.
• Perform daily pre-operational inspections of forklifts and related equipment for safe operation.
• Follow safety policies and assist in maintaining a zero-injury plant environment.
• Load, unload, move, and track raw materials, WIP inventory, and finished goods throughout the facility.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and transactions in the BPCS system.
• Support warehouse and production operations by completing additional duties and special projects.
