Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator at our Portland distribution center. This role supports loading/unloading, storing building materials, and ensuring accurate distribution paperwork.

You will operate forklift and cutting machinery following safety guidelines in a team-focused environment. We value reliable, safety-minded individuals with forklift experience and the ability to work independently when needed.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks.
• Experience operating cutting machinery.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Operate cutting machinery with training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
