Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator for our distribution center. You will operate forklift equipment, load and unload materials, and prepare shipping paperwork as part of a safety‑driven team.

The position offers a fixed wage of $22.84 per hour with a Monday‑Friday schedule (2nd shift 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm) and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) matching, tuition assistance, holiday pay, and PTO.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Able to operate forklift safely and transport products.
• Able to understand and follow directions.
• Capable of working independently under pressure.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Able to read sales orders and safety materials.
• Have a safe work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift per training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars with minimal damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily equipment inspection and maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts.

Primary Duties

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.
