Job summary

Midwest Web Printing & Direct Mail is seeking a Material Handler for the 2nd shift (3:30pm to 12am; overtime may alter hours). You will load, unload, and move materials within the plant and adjacent areas, ensuring accurate inventory handling and safe material transport.

Responsibilities include logging materials, wrapping skids, and operating forklifts/reach trucks to support warehouse and production flow. Strong communication and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient written communication; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders or follow instructions to determine materials to move.
• Log and remove Bindery/Finishing materials from inventory for upcoming jobs.
• Log excess materials back into inventory when jobs complete.
• Wrap skids and convey materials between storage and work areas.
• Stage printed material to appropriate equipment and load/unload materials.
• Operate forklift or reach truck to move materials; assist in loading between buildings.

2nd Shift - Material Handler

Job Title: Material Handler

Department: Warehouse/Shipping

Reports To: Warehouse Manager

This position is for 2nd shift. Those core hours are 3:30pm to 12am. During overtime these hours may change.

Summary Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved.
• Log and remove Bindery/Finishing materials out of inventory for the upcoming jobs.
• Log excess materials back into inventory when jobs complete
• Wrap skids.
• Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
• Stage printed material to appropriate equipment.
• Remove full waste boxes from Bindery/Finishing and Pressroom.
• Maintain product handling equipment.
• Removes samples of materials, labels with identifying information.
• Operates forklift or reach truck to assist in loading or moving materials and products throughout the warehouse and production areas.
• Operates straight truck to assist in moving materials and products between buildings.
• Computer knowledge preferred
• Ability to work by self with little supervision.

Objectives

• Reduce downtime incurred by machine operators due to moving skids of material
• Insure accuracy of materials to each piece of equipment

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration and medium noise level.
