Job summary

ProAmpac in Elgin, IL is seeking a Material Handler to move, store and stage raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods on a fast-paced production floor. You will load/unload materials with forklifts, support inventory accuracy, and coordinate with operators to keep production running smoothly while following safety protocols and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities include maintaining orderly storage, labeling shipments, and assisting with counts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or printing environment preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Load and unload materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Stage materials for printing and die cutting operations according to production schedules.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of material storage areas.
  • Assist with inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Label and document incoming and outgoing shipments accurately.
  • Follow safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with operators and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Dispose of scrap materials in accordance with company and environmental guidelines.

The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and staging of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods within a manufacturing facility. This role supports production by ensuring materials are available when needed and maintains accurate inventory records. Hours: Monday - Friday 10:00 pm - 6:30 am Wage: $20 -$24 per hour based on experience

Key Responsibilities

Work Environment

Fast-paced production floor with exposure to noise, ink, paper dust, and machinery. Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
