Job summary

Seaport Steel in Portland, OR is seeking a Material Handler to support crane and hoist operations and material movement. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance.

You will inspect equipment, assist with hookups, maintain cleanliness, and uphold safety procedures. Prior forklift and overhead crane experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• GED or High School diploma and 2 years related experience or equivalent
• Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages
• Able to read, write, and communicate clearly
• Ability to follow instructions and solve routine problems

Responsibilities

• Observe load hookup and assess safety of the load
• Operate crane controls to regulate speed and direction
• Use hook, sling, or bucket as required for loads
• Inspect crane and notify supervisors of defects
• Clean and maintain crane and hoisting equipment
