Job summary

BlueScope Coated Products in Middletown, OH is hiring a Material Handler I for day shift. You will prepare and package finished coils, operate exit recoiler controls, packaging line, and forklift to move materials safely.

Under supervision, you verify proper labeling, prepare materials for packaging and shipping, and coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, and Quality Control to resolve issues. Prior manufacturing experience is preferred; HS diploma or GED required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (or equivalent) required.
• One year manufacturing experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate exit recoiler controls and packaging line, and drive a forklift.
• Verify finished goods are labeled with correct identification tickets prior to storage.
• Prepare materials for packaging and shipping of finished coils.
• Quarantine non-conforming material and notify Quality Control.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control to resolve issues.
• Transport coil safely to designated locations using proper equipment.

Shift 5:45a to 6p Monday - Thursday Compensation starts at $21.50/hr Under general supervision, the Material Handler I prepares and packages finished coils in a safe manner to a designated location. This includes operating exit recoiler controls, packaging equipment and driving a forklift. Communicates daily with employees from Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control to help resolve any problems and help achieve company goals. **Primary Duties & Responsibilities \\**** Responsible for fulfilling exit assistant duties including operating exit recoiler controls, operating the packaging line and driving a forklift.* Responsible for verifying that finished goods are properly identified with an identification ticket prior to moving them to a storage area* Responsible for preparing materials to be used for packaging and shipping of finished coils* Responsible for quarantining non-conforming material and notifying Quality Control when non-conforming conditions exist* Communicates daily with internal personnel from Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control to help resolve any problems and help achieve company goals* Transport a bore horizontal coil from the coil cart to the proper location including using a coil mat/chock. **Education & Experience Qualifications** **Minimum:** * High School diploma or equivalent (GED) or experience **Preferred:** * One year of Manufacturing Experience **Skills & Competencies** * Basic computer skills* Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands* Detail Oriented – ensures accuracy of product and documentation to meet internal and/or external customer demands* Good communication skills**Additional Information** The preceding job responsibilities and tasks were designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by associates in this job.
