Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Material Handler in Kentucky to support loading, warehousing and shipping operations, including overseas bulk container handling. You will follow standard work and 5S principles while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a 12-hour rotating shift, ability to obtain a forklift license, and strong teamwork and communication. PPE and safety training are part of daily duties, with potential for overtime based on production needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Must be willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift including holidays, weekends, and overtime.
• Proficient with computers, including Word and Excel.
• Must pass background check and drug screen.
• Strong communication skills are required.
• Team-oriented, able to work with others.
• Must meet physical requirements and wear PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Load, warehouse, and ship tankers, boxes, sacks, and overseas bulk containers using various processes.
• Contribute to AdvanSix OS principles such as Standard Work, 5S, and Continuous Improvement.
• Obtain a forklift license.
• Participate in scheduled and unscheduled outages.
• Train unqualified Material Handlers.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Loading, warehousing, and shipping of tankers, boxes, sacks and overseas bulk containers by using various processes (manual and mechanical)
• Participate in AdvanSix OS (Operating System) principles, i.e. Standard Work, 5S, Continuous Improvement, etc.
• Obtain a fork lift license
• Participate in scheduled and unscheduled outages
• Train unqualified Material Handlers
• Additional responsibilities as needed

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma/GED
• Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift environment that includes holidays, weekends, and required overtime
• Proficiency with a computer, including programs such as Word and Excel
• Must be able to complete a background check and drug test successfully
• Must have strong communication skills
• Must be willing and able to work in a team environment
• Must meet minimum physical requirements needed to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be able to safely wear, utilize, and operate all required personal protective equipment (PPE) according to manufacturer specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Chemical operations background/experience is preferred (at least 1 year)
• Fork truck preferred
• Able to manage multiple priorities
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Basic computer and troubleshooting skills
• Have a strong work ethic and initiative to learn processes
• Ability to work at elevated heights - greater than 50 feet
• Comfortable entering and working in confined spaces

Physical Requirements

• Required to work on uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces and in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.)
• Ability to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., and exert up to 75 pounds pull
• Ability to work at elevated heights - greater than 50 feet

The hourly rate for this position is $21.96
