Job summary

Novanta Inc. is seeking a shipping/receiving contractor to support materials handling, receiving, and distribution within our Precision Manufacturing unit. The role involves unpacking, verifying orders, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced stockroom environment.

You will rely on ERP systems (Oracle/Exact Max) and standard shipping platforms (UPS/FedEx). Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work overtime or weekends as needed, with 2–4 years of experience in

Qualifications

  • Experience with an integrated ERP system (Oracle and Exact Max preferred).
  • Possess an outstanding work ethic, sense of ownership, attention to detail, and an eye for quality at every step.
  • Experience with UPS and Federal Express Shipping Systems: US and International.
  • Requires good math, written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Team player: ability to have a good relationship with others in a busy stockroom/shipping receiving environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed. 2-4 years of Shipping/Receiving experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing the physical and administrative/physical tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Unpack and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
  • Maintains records of received goods, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary.
  • Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift.
  • Prepares and maintains paper and electronic records of products shipped.
  • Examines stocks and distributes materials to stocking locations and manufacturing lines as needed to support production needs.

This contractor position is part of Novanta’s Precision Manufacturing business unit. The Novanta Precision Manufacturing business designs, develops, and manufactures innovative beam steering solutions, including polygon and galvanometer optical scanning components, 2- axis and 3- axis scan heads, scanning sub-systems, high power scanning heads, and controlling hardware and software. As the inventor of galvanometer-based optical scanning technology, it is our mission to drive innovations in photonics by delivering unprecedented technical capabilities through the critical lens of collaboration, quality, and customer service.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for performing the physical and administrative/physical tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Unpack and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices.

  • Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.
  • Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
  • Experience with an integrated ERP system (Oracle and Exact Max preferred).
