Job Purpose: To operate forklifts safely and efficiently; handle all freight inbound or outbound properly and in an orderly manner; maintain warehouse area with proper stacking and good housekeeping; load/unload RJW trucks/trailers and outside carriers safely using proper procedures; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded; store stock properly in the warehouse; perform duties related to material handling for shipping and receiving activities. Operate from warehouse sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load trailers. Maintain forklift safety following all policies and procedures.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient warehouse operations.
- Operate sit-down forklifts and/or EPJs.
- Use computers and handheld RF equipment effectively.
- Safely load and unload trucks/trailers, including outside carriers' equipment.
- Work flexible hours, including 10 to 12-hour shifts, and be comfortable working at heights.
- Handle stock weighing from 1 lb. to 50 lbs., multiple times.
- Ensure shipments are staged and loaded correctly.
- Maintain an organized warehouse with proper stacking and housekeeping.
- Process outbound cross-dock freight as needed.
- Store stock properly and move products into storage racks.
- Use warehouse sheets to pick customer orders and load trailers.
- Verify shipment accuracy against paperwork.
- Complete all documentation properly.
- Operate forklifts safely, following OSHA and company safety policies, including wearing seatbelts and performing daily inspections.
- Handle customer products properly and check for damages, reporting issues to supervisors with photos if necessary.
- Report accidents, damages, or incidents immediately.
- Spot trailers to maintain yard organization and flow.
- Keep dock doors accessible and free of debris or snow.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work with urgency, accountability, and minimal supervision.
- Possess basic computer and RF equipment skills.
- Read, write, and understand English.
- Pay attention to detail and quality.
- Communicate clearly and resolve problems effectively.
- Be flexible to work overtime and cover other shifts.
- Have experience operating sit-down forklifts/EPJs.
- Build and break down pallets, and handle cross-docking freight.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Qualifications
- 3-6 months of forklift driving experience in a warehouse setting.
- Good stable work record.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Warehousing certifications are a plus.
