Job Purpose
Operate forklifts safely and efficiently; handle all freight inbound or outbound properly; maintain an orderly warehouse with good housekeeping; load/unload RJW trucks and outside carriers safely; ensure shipments are staged, checked, and loaded correctly; store stock properly; perform material handling for shipping and receiving; work from warehouse sheets using forklifts to pick and load customer orders; follow all safety policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient operations.
- Operate reach truck and/or Walkie Rider.
- Understand computer and RF equipment usage.
- Load/unload trucks safely and efficiently, including outside carriers.
- Work flexible hours, including 10-12 hour shifts, and be comfortable working at heights.
- Handle stock weighing from 1 lb to 50 lbs multiple times.
- Ensure proper staging and loading of shipments.
- Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness.
- Process outbound cross-dock freight as needed.
- Store stock properly and move products into racks.
- Use warehouse sheets and forklifts for order picking and loading.
- Verify shipment accuracy against paperwork.
- Complete all documentation properly.
- Operate forklifts following OSHA and company safety policies, including seatbelt use.
- Perform daily forklift maintenance inspections.
- Handle customer products properly and check for damages.
- Report accidents, damages, or issues immediately.
- Spot trailers to maintain yard flow.
- Keep dock doors accessible and free of debris or snow.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work with urgency, accountability, and minimal supervision.
- Understand computer and RF equipment.
- Read, write, and understand English.
- Pay attention to detail and quality.
- Communicate clearly and resolve problems effectively.
- Be flexible to work overtime and cover shifts.
- Possess PC skills; experience with reach trucks or stand-up forklifts preferred.
- Experience in pallet building, stock breakdown, and cross-docking freight is advantageous.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Qualifications
- 3-6 months forklift driving experience with reach truck/stand-up forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
- Good work history.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Warehousing certifications are a plus.
